Emergency Assistance Coalition (EAC).
Established in 1989 the Emergency Assistance Coalition (EAC) has provided emergency food, lodging and gas for more than 10,000 people in need. Living without the basic necessities is dehumanizing. The EAC is helping people with these basic needs - and hope.
Continuum of Care (CoC)
Vision Statement
* Our mission is to decrease homliness in Nevada County by meeting the specialized needs of the homeless. Improving overall functioning through the stability and services the program offers increases one's ability to move toward independence.
Through organized and expanded delivery of housing and support services, the Continuun of Care Coalition will develop permanent homeless shelters with medical, mental health, and vocational services through grants, donations, and the community support. Eighty percent of Neveda County's homeless grew up here, and for many reasons can not afford a place to live. We have a vision where many angencies, individuals, and the communty at large work the the Continuum of Care Coalition and Hospitality House to decrease the number of homeless people in our county.
-----------------
Our Continuum of Care Coalition is actively planning to better organize and expand the delivery of housing and support services to meet the needs of our homeless population. Our Continuum of Care 10 Year Plan begins with our homeless shelters. Hospitality House has outgrown its Welcome Center, demonstrating that a larger more permanent residential facility is needed. An estimated 80% of guests at Hospitality House were born and raised in Nevada County. We plan to support Hospitality House to purchase a property that will provide shelter and offer a wide range of support services, including medical and psychological services for those who are homeless
Helping our homeless find and keep housing will enhance the quality of life for our community. Service providers, non- profits and government agencies are working collaboratively to support and fund the different elements of our 10 year plan. Its success, however, depends on our entire community being part of the solutions to end homelessness in Nevada County
Mental Health Services Act (MHSA)
The Mental Health Services Act provides loans for agencies to purchase properties to house those with Mental Illness. Nevada County Housing Development has partnered with Nevada County Behavioral Health to provide housing in Nevda County. Nevada County Housing Development manages the property and Behavioral Health provides services to those tenants who want assistance.
